The Forward Prizes are major British awards for poetry, presented annually at a ceremony in London. The prizes celebrate excellence in poetry and its value to the arts.

The awards recognise and honour talent in three categories: Best Collection, Best First Collection and Best Single Poem. Works shortlisted for the prizes are collated in The Forward Book of Poetry each year. Previous winners have included Seamus Heaney, Ted Hughes and Carol Ann Duffy.

This year, Laura has been nominated for The Forward Prize for Best Single Poem.

Having been nominated by Mother’s Milk Books and Coast to Coast to Coast Journal, this is the first year that Laura has been nominated for the prize. She expressed her thanks on Twitter to the two journals who nominated her work, and wished good luck to all the nominees.

The winners of the 28th Forward Prizes will be announced in October at The Southbank Centre in London.
